News. . . Voter interest in a borrowing referendum for the proposed curling rink/multi-use facility appears to be high, according to tally numbers as of noon today.

Advance voting is taking place at the Peachland Community Centre today on whether the municipality should borrow $1.3 million to build a the facility. Today is the only advance voting opportunity in the referendum.

As of 12 noon, fours hours after advance voting began, 106 people had cast ballots, according to election officials.

Today also marks the first time in Peachland history that voters will cast their ballots using a voting machine. The district acquired voting machines from the City of Kelowna to use in the referendum — a prelude to using the machines in the 2011 civic election.

Advance voting runs until 8 p.m. tonight in council chambers. General voting day takes place on May 15.
