While the accused murderer of 16-year-old Ashlee Hyatt has been banned from using all social networking mediums on the Internet, a disturbing battle is taking place on Facebook.

Within hours of Hyatt’s death last Wednesday evening, a memorial page was set up on Facebook. And almost as fast, some users began posting some nasty comments. A day later, extra controls were put in place on the memorial page, which also limited non-member access.

Now, other Facebook pages related to the murdered teen are popping up, and some of the posts on them are shocking.

The Kelowna Capital News today has a story on the disturbing reality of Facebook gone awry. Read the story here.

Editor’s note: Peachland News will not post the address of the Facebook pages in question. We ask that commenters also not include addresses or page names in comments, as those comments will not be published.
