KCPA hosting Shred Day

The Kelowna Crime Prevention Association presents an opportunity for residents to protect themselves from identity theft.

Shred Day will be held on Saturday, May 28 at the Crown Packaging parking lot on Enterprise Way in Kelowna. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Outdated bank statements, credit card statements, cancelled cheques and other documents with sensitive personal information can be shredded.

Okanagan Paper Shredding will be on site to immediately shred documents and there is a limit of three banker box sized boxes per household, for a minimum $5 donation.

Also at the event, KCPA will be selling protective sleeves that are an excellent way to protect information stored on credit/debit cards.

The Smart Card Defender sleeves are metal lined and protect personal information on any card.

Three sleeves will sell for $10.

KCPA is a charitable, volunteer organization that supports crime prevention programming and awareness int he Central Okanagan.
