The second storey of this proposed building would become the new headquarters for marketing firm TNI. (Dave Preston photo)

A new development for downtown Peachland is still in the proposal stage but pictures of it drew a positive response Thursday.
TNI Property Management unveiled concept drawings of a new development that could replace the existing Edgewater Inn (Water’s Edge) and Aegean Buildings.
At just under 40,000 sq. ft. in size, the three storey structure would feature retail stores on the street level floor, office space on the second floor and residential on the top floor.
The TNI group of companies currently houses its employees in four separate buildings in downtown Peachland and they would be consolidated into the second floor of the the new building, if it is built.
The crowd in the first 90 minutes of an open house Thursday afternoon was mostly made up of TNI employees, town employees and council members. Only a handful of residents showed up to see the proposal.
Lots of positive comments were made about the proposal.

Re; Lizzy’s comment… Dave, wasn’t the municipal office property part of the deal with TNI redeveloping the whole block? I heard that there was some issue with the District wanting it’s offices on District property and was not cool with leasing space from TNI. Then they were looking at adding to the community center. Where is that at?
Thanks

Yes, originally, TNI had a deal with the district to redevelop the whole block. I do not know where that is that. Yes, TNI wanted the district to lease space and the district said it wanted its own space.
Engineers have been looking at the community centre so they can report on the feasibility of expanding it.
Peachland is already a great place to live, work, and visit. Having more Retail, Office and Residential opportunities will only add to the appeal that has already brought some wonderful people to our GREAT TOWN!!!!

Its a shame that the picture still shows the old municipal office, doesn’t give me much hope that an agreement can be reached to better the downtown image.
The picture of the proposed development is certainly impressive , and the downtown core does need a facelift. Did anyone mention a time frame for completion, 1 year, 2 years, etc…? Considering what s there now, and what could be, seems like a worthwhile undertaking…
I went last night and was very impressed. The builder is Shane Worman and he does good work. this should really improve the downtown.
The only down side is that I understand it will take the town about 12 months to approve the proposal, why so long.
I met one Councillor last night (EH) and was disturbed his main comments was only that new development does not mean lower taxes, not exactly an endorsement for improving the town, we need to be more positive.
Wow, what an improvement! Finally, something to be excited about.
That is a nice building. Hope they get approval for it. It would certainly upgrade the downtown core. The sooner the Edgewater is gone the better.
Would you please describe the features of this project that meet or support the downtown charrette objectives? Are there objectives that it does not support?
