Imagine the surprise of a resident on the 2500 block of Rhinestone Road in West Kelowna to wake up and discover a thief had just broken into his home! A man was sleeping before a night shift at approximately 6 PM on February 28 when he heard noises in the house. Thinking it was his wife, he called out. When there was no reply he got up to investigate and discovered the house had been broken into. The thief had smashed a side window at the front door to enter, turned on lights and opened cupboards. He left with $40 in cash and a laptop.

West Kelowna RCMP received a call on March 26 of a theft that occurred during the week-end. Thieves entered a building under construction located on the 3600 block of Elliott Road, cut the lock ring off of a wooden locker and stole items from inside. A Hilti hammer drill, a gas powered saw, cordless drill, circular saw and various hand tools were taken.

RCMP were notified of a secured compound being entered during the early hours of February 9, 2012. The gate lock of the compound located on the 2900 block of Sexsmith was cut, the gate was opened, and a vehicle drove in and hooked up the trailer and left the property with two snowmobiles. The trailer was later located. The missing snowmobiles are a yellow 2000 Mini Z Skidoo (children’s) with VIN # 1592 and a blue Yamaha Max, VIN # 8ED005553.

Kelowna RCMP are looking for the thief who threw a rock through a window of a Budget rental truck and stole a bag full of goodies from the front seat on March 27, 2012. The moving truck was parked at a condo building on the 500 block of Yates Road and the occupants were away for just a short time. Witnesses watched a man dressed in black arrive in an older green Pontiac, park next to the moving truck, throw a rock at the window, grab the large duffel bag and drive away. The bag held a Technoluxury watch ($600), Nixon Gunship watch ($600), Christian Dior sunglasses ($300), Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses ($300) and a Playstation.
