Audited Financial Statements

Council accepted the 2011 Audited Financial Statements for the District of West Kelowna. The municipality again achieved a surplus over its projected budget for 2011. The surplus of $415,489 will be transferred to reserves.

Mobile Vending Policy

Council adopted an amended Mobile Vending Policy to allow vendors to amplify music while in motion. The move is in response to significant input from the public that vendors like ice cream trucks should be allowed to broadcast music. Council further amended the policy to increase the allowable stopping time from 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

Paramount Park

Council approved $12,000 from the Park Development Cost Charge Reserve Fund for landscaping improvements to Paramount Park in Tallus Ridge. Paramount Park, dedicated to the District at the time of subdivision, is undeveloped and within a recognized wildlife corridor connecting upland areas to the east and natural lands to the west. Improvements will create a natural area/neighbourhood park with shade trees and a bench, while preserving the connection to the wildlife corridor and surrounding environmental features.

Lakeview Sewer – Phase 7

Council awarded the construction contract in the amount of $3,587,436 to R&L Excavating Ltd. for the Lakeview Phase 7 – Boucherie Road North Sanitary Sewer Project. R&L Excavating submitted the lowest bid for the work. The project will see 80 new sewer connections and also includes the upgrading of a Boucherie Road from Highway 97 to Stuart Road to the new Wine Route standard.
