A young boy was taken to hospital Tuesday morning after a diving accident at Swim Bay.

The boy, who is a visitor to Peachland, apparently attempted a back flip off the low diving board at the popular Peachland swimming spot, according to Cheryl Wiebe, director of community services. The boy hit his head during the back flip.

Lifeguards treated the boy and called in paramedics as a precaution.

Wiebe said lifeguards always deal with possible head injuries in the same way. Paramedics transported the boy to Kelowna General Hospital.
