Updated: Local man drowns in Okanagan Lake

Updated (1:30 p.m.). . . PeachlandNews.com has learned that RCMP recovered the body of a man who drowned near the log boom south of Bear Creek Provincial Park.

Apparently the man had gone swimming with his dog.

RCMP confirmed Saturday that a 40-year-old Okanagan man drowned Friday night near Bear Creek Provincial Park, according to CHBC News.

Few details are available, but the incident took place near the log assembly area just south of the park at about 7 p.m.

Rescue personnel combed the lake Friday night but were unable to find the man’s body. A dive team is working on the recovery effort today.
