Update (8:06 p.m.). . . A highway closed Tuesday afternoon due to a mudslide is now open, according to DriveBC.

Hwy. 3A was closed for several hours after the slide occurred between Nelson and Castlegar.

There are reports that three homes in the small community of Thrums have been evacuated as a precaution.

Hwy. 3A, the main link between Nelson and Castlegar, is closed after a landslide late Tuesday afternoon.

Details are few at this time but reports are that the landslide may have occurred near the small community of Thrums, northwest of Castlegar.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.

The Regional District of Central Kootenay is reporting there is no damage to the highway, but the road is closed as a precaution.
