No reports of missing persons after Fairmont mudslide

Columbia Valley RCMP has received no reports of any overdue travelers or missing persons after a large mudslide overtook the village of Fairmont.
“The Regional District of East Kootenay is currently the Incident Commander and members of the Columbia Valley RCMP are continuing to assist in the disaster response efforts,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk.
“The Fairmont area of British Columbia is an internationally known travel destination with visitors from coast to coast and around the world,” said Moskaluk. “We ask all tourists that were in the Fairmont area to contact their families and loved ones to ensure that all are accounted for” said Cpl Dan Moskaluk.
The mudslide took place Sunday, July 15 at 4:45 p.m.
