Castlegar and Nelson took the brunt of a powerful thunderstorm Tuesday.
So much rain fell in a short time in the Kootenay towns that downtown streets turned into rivers and, in some places, manholes became geysers.
Hwy. 3A between the two towns was closed for several hours after a small mudslide came down near the town of Thrums. There were no reports of damage, however three homes were evacuated as a precaution.
