Just in time for the start of the weekend, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of southern British Columbia.
The potential exists today for the development of severe thunderstorms that could potentially contain large hail and damaging winds, according to the national weather forecaster.
From Environment Canada:
An upper disturbance currently over the northwestern u.S will move into Southern British Columbia today. A moist southerly flow associated with the system will support the development of potentially severe thunderstorms today over the Southwest British Columbia interior, Kootenays, and portions of the Columbias and Central Interior. The main threat from the storms will be brief, heavy downpours producing heavy rainfall rates. The storms also have the potential to produce large hail and strong wind gusts.
