Two teens appeared in court Monday morning on charges they were responsible for a fire on St. Amand Road in Kelowna late Saturday night.
Both teens, aged 19 and 14, were charged with arson, according to Cnst. Kris Clark.
Emergency personnel received a call at 11:57 p.m. Saturday, according to Clark. The caller claimed that two males were breaking vehicle windows at 3250 St. Armand Road.
A fire was set in the car port of the home.
“A subsequent explosion caused the house and two vehicles to catch fire,” said Clark. “The Kelowna Fire Department was able to quench the blaze which caused significant damage to the residence and vehicles.”
The 19-year-old man had recently moved to Kelowna, while the 14-year-old youth is from Kelowna. RCMP was able to take both teens into custody shortly after the fire started.
“Both appeared before a Judicial Justice of the Peace and have since been released on undertakings with conditions to appear in court at a later date,” said Clark.
