No charges were laid after two pitbulls got into a fight with other dogs in Peachland.

West Kelowna RCMP recieved a report of a dog attack Sunday at about 10:20 a.m., according to Cnst. Kris Clark.

The incident took place in the 5,000 Block of Cousins Road.

“Apparently, two pitbulls got away from their handler and got into a fight with some other dogs,” said Clark.

There was only one other dog involved in the incident, according to a neighbour. The dog attacked is an 11-year-old cattle dog cross owned by seniors.

The cattle dog had to be taken to a veterinarian, according to the neighbour.

A man from Peachland received a small cut to his hand while he attempted to pry the dogs apart, according to Clark.

According to the neighbor, the cattle dog’s elderly owner was bitten by one of the pitbulls.

“Although I did not witness the attack, I personally saw the puncture wounds,” said the neighbour. “Their beloved pet has been traumatized and harmed.”

“In fact, they were all traumatized because the attack happened in their own yard, practically at their front door,” said the neighbour.

No charges were laid stemming from the incident and the pitbulls were not taken away. Fencing and leashing requirements were discussed with the oweners of all the dogs involved, according to Clark.

A couple of seniors on their own doorstep with an eleven year old dog..Yes, I would say that the pitbulls who happened to bite the senior should be taken away, if only to observe how agressive or dangerous they may or may not be.

Next time it might be a kid with his puppy.

Totally ridiculous that the pitbulls were not taken away. Obviously the owners do not have control over their animals.

But a dog in Kelowna is on DEATH ROW and has been for a year and a half for chasing a cat and causing it to SELF MUTILATE?? Supposedly!!! You are incredible RDCO….really!!
