By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had grown to about 20 feet by 80 feet, according to Assistant Chief James Springer.
The fire was located in the northbound ditch of the highway, between Hwy. 97 and Drought Road, in fairly steep terrain.
Firefighters were able to get a handle on the fire quickly and were leaving the scene by 12:20 a.m.
