RCMP is investigating a suspected home invasion in Peachland.
The incident took place in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 23 on MacKenzie Road — a quite cul-de-sac across Gladstone Road from the Ponderosa development.
Six officers, including two crime scene investigators and a police services dog handler, descended on the neighborhood Thursday morning to investigate.
PeachlandNews.com received two independent reports that a gunshot was heard at about 2:30 a.m., followed by the sound of one or more vehicles screeching away from the scene.
Cnst. Kris Clark with Kelowna RCMP was not able to confirm that a gun had been fired. He did confirm that RCMP received a report of a home invasion in progress.
“It appears that a number of individuals basically kicked in the door at the house,” said Clark.
The house is a single-family home in the 5700 Block of MacKenzie Road. Neighbours suggested that several young men lived at the residence but may not have been home often.
