A wildfire in Keremeos is not threatening the historic Grist Mill at this time.
Kim Wade reported to PeachlandNews.com that the fire is above Upper Bench Road. There are about a dozen homes below the fire, including orchards and Farmer John’s Petting Zoo.

Wildfire Management Branch is working with the Keremeos Fire Department on a new wildfire on Upper Bench Road, north east of town. The fire is estimated at 10 hectares in size.
The fire is burning in grass and sage and displaying aggressive surface fire behaviour. Resources on site include 22 firefighters, one dozer and one water truck.
There are homes near this wildfire, but not imminently threatened. Crews on site are working with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen to assess the need for an evacuation alert for nearby residents.
