The rough layout of the Peachland Skate Park can now be seen in Lambly Park now that Newline Skateparks has begun work on the project.
Actual construction of the park won’t begin until after the Thanksgiving long weekend, according to Tim Dubbin, Newline director of operations.
Dubbin was in Peachland Monday with Jesse Hale, the project manager.
Monday’s job was to layout the skate park in the grassy area south of the tennis courts in Lambly Park.
Last week a tree on the south side of the tennis courts was removed. According to information on the District of Peachland’s website, the tree’s roots could interfere with the park and a pathway that is to be installed during construction.
Hale said a construction fence will be going up around the construction site on Tuesday.
The project is expected to take eight to 10 weeks to construct with the possibility of some finishing landscaping to be done early in 2013. Peachland council has set aside $225,000 from an amenity contribution fund to pay for the project.
