News that the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) is now planning for a September start on the installation of a traffic light at Clements Crescent will no doubt be welcomed by all residents, but particularly so by those who frequent the Peachland Mall, live on the crescent, or need to get to and from the elementary school.

I want to assure readers that council’s decision to give first and second reading to the New Monaco Area Structure Plan (ASP) implies nothing more than a desire on council’s part to open-up the plan for public consultation before there is any move to an official public hearing or any decision on the acceptability of the plan.

In 2010, 22.9 per cent of Central Okanagan children were vulnerable on at least one of these five scales of development (down from 27 per cent in the 2001-2004 period). The provincial goal is that by 2015 no more than 15 per cent of EDI-tested children in B.C. will be considered vulnerable on one or more of the scales.
