For those of you in the construction industry you may be aware of pending changes to the BC Building Code that will come into effect in the fall of 2012. The new provisions will change the way many walls, basements, slabs and roofs are designed and constructed in wood-frame houses.

The voting process will be through a mail-in ballot system. Although there are pros and cons to different voting systems, the mail-in ballot process in this case can save B.C. taxpayers upwards of $18 million.

Gov’t to consult on minimum wage

One of the recommendations put forward from the committee was to increase the minimum wage. As a result of this recommendation, the Ministry of Labor will begin consultations regarding employment standards and increasing the minimum wage.
