It costs about $85 before gratuity, each way, when I travel to and from the YLW airport every week. Fortunately I can expense that but there is no other reliable option when one needs to get to the airport on time. The two airport shuttle companies basically refuse to pick up in Peachland for a variety of reasons varying from "It takes too much time to get to navigate the town to find a house" to "we won't have a shuttle going through Peachland today and we won't make a special trip". The shuttle from the airport will only "deliver" as far as the Holiday Inn in Westbank. Taking a taxi from Westbank to Peachland is $20 or more! It's scary to watch that meter "spin up" like points on a pinball machine.

If there was a reliable, on-time, regular, bus/shuttle service that went up and down the valley from Summerland to YLW, with no more than 30 minutes between departures, I would buy a bus pass. Make them leading edge efficient hydrogen or electric or even natural gas vehicles and charge $40 for airport service and it would be a bargain.
any idea what went wrong?
The whole Trepanier Manor concept is faulty.
Who wants to live close to a hotel with all its noise, traffic all day and the view blocked by an ugly 3 story building?

Since 2006, this project has been nothing but a nightmare, the hype was artificial.

Those kind of people just forget about all the damage they left behind...sweep it under the rug and let others deal with it.

No blaming the District on the failure of this development. {Removed/admin}business practices have been at the best, questionable from day 1 on the project. Again, its a shame for the people that invested and provided services only not to be paid. {Removed/admin}

Perhaps one or two of the over abundant buses that I see travelling on the roads at all times of the day going to "SORRY NOT IN SERVICE" could be routed through Peachland while on their leisurely drive around the valley. I swear that sometimes I see more of them than I do regularly scheduled buses driving around>

It does not take much imagination to realise the state of future Pensioners. As for saving for the future is non-existant for the average family. In the past many of us had good salaries and pension schemes, payed holidays etc. something that is more of a thing of the past. Back in 1984 I retired early as things had changed which I resented. However my collegues I met mentioned I was lucky, as although older could no afford to retire. What does thay say...?

When the Carbon tax was attached to the price of gasoline I wrote to the Liberal Government of the day, pointing out that the rural areas have little or lack of a decent bus service, as in the Peachland area. mentioning that it took two hours to get to KGH to have blood tests and Chemotherapy at eight o'clock in the AM. The reply was," We have to be fair to everyone".Every time the Greens and like want to beat Global warming it cost citizens extra cash. Even the so-called Scientist around the World cannot agree whether the cause in natural and noted Geologists have found that Global warming/ Ice age is a fact that has happened many times over the existence of the World and will do so again, and pointing out the an Ice-age that will surely arrive one day. But no one is really interested. It is a money maker for sure.. Anyway vehicle pollution has decreased some 70%+ since 1975.Cars are smaller and lighter and the increase in gas MPG (litre) and over a few years outweigh Electric car total cost including maintenance. Yes we are between a rock and hard place for sure.

The Greens are trying to play experts. The trouble is that many come up with socalled solutions, but never consider what other problems that will present themselves later. As for solar panels whether used for water heating or power generation have to have back-up. such as Gas or Electric water heaters. Of course the life of these panels are additional cost to the user. They rely on the weather. As for the generation of Electricity and selling the extra power to the utility is a dream. It is not worh the utiliy to even consider buying the surplus. energy so small. Then if one relies on solar panels you require batteries which provide DC Voltage to provide over 100/200 volts and an additional converter to achieve AC as modern appliances require AC current. An expensive item. Basically one needs a large income to support the systems. It is a funny World. It was 'get rid of polluting cars. When sales dropped there was unemployment. Lovely thought the Greens. Look at our achievement. Next Government bailed-out the motor industry to get works back to work. never mind the pollution craze. Yes it brought about new inventions. A good thing. Electric vehicles were around in 1936 and still have the built-in questions.. Even hybrid vehicles were around before WWII. Nothing new. They are not as practical as a gas vehicle. and resale value will not be too great. The batteries are only warranted to the original owner.. What happened to the German hydrogen busses bought by the Liberals to run on the Hydrogen Highway to California. No Hydrogen. Should have checked first.

See gallery photos....an entire house in vinyl siding burnt?.....
Plastic such as PVC (polyvinylchloride) is common in such things as vinyl siding, bottles and jugs, vinyl tubing, drainpipes, blister paks, etc. Care should be taken never to burn these at home, as carbon monoxide, dioxins and furans are released into the air. Studies have linked dioxins and furans to cancer and respiratory disease.

Vinyl, when burnt, releases toxic materials called dioxins.

According to Oregon State University, dioxins are a class of the most harmful carcinogens ever known. They accumulate in living tissue without ever breaking down.

This is just such a sad story. This was a beautiful spot before it was partially developed and it would have been a nice place after it was developed. Unfortunately now we are left with a big half finished mess that will stay like this for years to come. I am surprised that things haven't gone missing yet from the property. It would be interesting to know the all the reasons why this happened. Was it a lack of money, the actual investors involved, down turn of the economy, poor planning, too many roadblocks from the District of Peachland or a combination of all 5 things? ( To add to the above post about the reporting, I have seen nothing in the articles on this site to be misleading or unproven and they were all backed up with court documents that are available to the public)

I use my truck because the closest bust stop is 2kms away. Just to tell you, I got my DL at age 25. Why? Because I was happy using the busses and subway when I was living in Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto.

Moving in a smaller city proved a car was ESSENTIAL even to do the groceries. Should there be a convienent transit system in Peachland, I'd be the first one to support it.

Just want to say that I sent a letter in defence of the police officer to the Osoyoos Times and a very long pro-police letter to the Province after this story was published and it seems that neither one was interested in the truth. I did not see either of my letters. The media loves to publish every little bit of garbage they can get thier hands on whether it is has all the facts or not It is unfortunate that there are so many people out there that take what the media says as fact. As the wife of a police officer I know that thier job is hard enought without the backlash from negative publicity. I think it time the media got off of their backs so they can do thier jobs.
